Thank you for visiting the Wilderness Library. I hope you learn something about Ted Richmond and the wonderful work he did for many people.
I'm working to do the following:
Establish the www.wildernesslibrary.com web site. (DONE)
Work with the Newton County library to establish a memorial section dedicated to the Ted Richmond Library. (Partial - there is an existing cabinet in the research section of the library that was added a few years ago. One GREAT artifact is the original backpack used by Ted to carry books through the Ozark Mountains! I will be working with the library to expand this exhibit.)
Protect the remains of the original library and home of Ted Richmond, the Wildcat Cabin.
Restore the Wildcat Cabin as a museum for generations to come.
Restore the Jefferson L. Raney branch of the Wilderness Library to it's original purpose as a library/museum.
Document Ted's life before and after his establishment of the Wilderness Library.
Locate any of his remaining relatives. (Recently contact by Ted's (Theo's) niece!)
If you want to help in reaching these goals, please feel free to contact me personally by email at dennis@wildernesslibrary.com
Sincerely,
Dennis L. Raney
